Dr. Sudhir Rawal is the Chief of Uro-Oncology at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre in New Delhi – India's premier dedicated cancer hospital – and one of India's foremost robotic uro-oncological surgeons. With over 25 years of specialised experience and fellowship training at the legendary MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Houston USA, he has built a uro-oncology surgical programme widely regarded as the national benchmark for robotic urological cancer surgery.
Dr. Rawal completed his MBBS, MS in General Surgery and MCh in Urology before undertaking a highly competitive Fellowship in Uro-Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Centre, University of Texas – consistently ranked the world's number one or two cancer centre. This fellowship immersed him in the highest-volume most technically advanced uro-oncological environment in the world, providing expertise in robotic surgical techniques, oncological principles of urological cancer management and the multidisciplinary approach to complex cancer care.
Returning to India, Dr. Rawal introduced robotic radical prostatectomy at RGCIRC – becoming one of India's pioneer robotic prostatectomists – and has since performed over 7,000 uro-oncological surgeries using robotic, laparoscopic and open approaches. His prostate cancer surgery programme offers nerve-sparing robotic prostatectomy achieving excellent urinary continence and sexual function preservation alongside outstanding long-term cancer control.
In bladder cancer, Dr. Rawal is expert in robotic radical cystectomy with continent or incontinent urinary diversion – the most complex and technically demanding procedure in urological oncology.
